The Best iPad 2 Cases For Guys
Looking for manly cases for the original iPad? Check out our post on the Best Manly iPad cases for 2011.
Our last post on iPad cases came out just before the iPad 2, so we decided to let some time pass, let the new cases come out, and see what’s on the market. As you know, the iPad 2 sports a new, thinner design, front and rear-facing cameras, a more powerful processor, and a magnetic ‘smart cover’. Let’s get started with a unique third-party ‘case’ and eventually get to one of Apple’s own.
Gela Skins for iPad 2
Adding this one as a bit of a bonus; Gela Skins are essentially just vinyl decals, and they won’t protect your iPad from anything other than minor scratches, but they come ins some pretty amazing designs. PLUS! You can upload your own photos or designs and have it made into a skin. How cool is that!
Gela Skins are $29.95.
PDair Black Aluminum Case
What’s manlier than metal? Grab this aluminum case and be proud of your love for the malleable. There’s a reason Apple’s used aluminum so prominently in its products, and virtually every case completely covers it up! Luckily, the PDair case allows you to still rock out the aluminum.
PDair is available (in black or regular aluminum) for $49.99 at Amazon.com.
Apple Smart Cover
The native Smart Cover case by Apple is certainly unique, in that it uses magnetic hinges to attach to the iPad itself. Additionally, the iPad is smart enough that when the cover is lifted, the iPad wakes up. Simiarly, if you close the cover, the iPad then goes to sleep. Very cool. The only downsides to this ‘case’ is that the Smart Cover is pretty thin, and wouldn’t keep your iPad especially safe. Smart Cover does come in a wide range of colors.
Smart Cover is $39 at Apple.
Hard Graft Heritage Leather Case
We featured a Hard Graft case in our last post, and we just have to feature them again. We have yet to find a better luxury iPad case. The Heritage case holds the original iPad and also iPad2 (even with the Smart Cover on). Heritage is made with premium leather in Italy. Make an investment in your iPad with Heritage.
Heritage is 179 euros (roughly $257).
Case-Mate Barely There for iPad 2
Want better protection than a Gela Skin, but still need to be weight and size-conscious? Enter Case-Mate’s Barely There case. While the name might evoke bra imagery, the Barely There is about as minimalistic a case you can get while still providing decent protection from large scratches and falls. Slim, attractive and cheap- what more could you want from an iPad case?
Barely There is $34.99 at Case-Mate.
